Rohde & Schwarz has expanded its MXO oscilloscope lineup with a new software option that brings 3-Phase Power Analysis directly into the instrument. The new R&S MXO-K333 is designed for engineers working on drives, inverters and other three-phase AC systems, giving them power-analyzer-style insight without leaving the oscilloscope environment.
The software is available for all four- and eight-channel models in the MXO 3, MXO 4, MXO 5 and MXO 5C families. It adds detailed power measurement and analysis functions while keeping the captured waveforms visible, making it easier to connect power behavior with real signal events and speed up troubleshooting.
A guided setup wizard helps map the oscilloscope channels to voltage and current probes, checks the wiring and supports common two-wire, three-wire and four-wire configurations. Once set up, the software can calculate RMS values, power factor, active power, reactive power and total power on a cycle-by-cycle basis.
Users can also analyze three-phase efficiency by defining input and output configurations. Additional tools include phasor display, harmonic analysis and THD measurements aligned with IEC 61000-3-2 and MIL-STD-1399.
Because the analysis runs inside an oscilloscope, engineers can correlate power data with transients, switching events, control signals and communications in real time. That makes the MXO-K333 especially useful during R&D and debugging, when seeing the full waveform often matters as much as the measurement itself.
