Microchip Technology has introduced the TimePictra® 12 platform, a major upgrade to its synchronization management software aimed at giving critical infrastructure operators greater visibility, control, and automation across complex timing networks.

The new synchronization management software brings a redesigned user interface, stronger automation capabilities, and expanded support for next generation high accuracy timing technologies.
As networks across telecom, power, transportation, and data centers grow more distributed and demanding, maintaining precise synchronization has become increasingly challenging.
Operators are now moving toward more advanced timing architectures to improve resilience, reduce reliance on GNSS, and ensure accurate clock alignment across wide scale environments.
TimePictra 12 is built to support this shift with enhanced tools for managing high accuracy time transfer connections, along with deeper visibility into GNSS performance through Microchip’s BlueSky technology.
The platform strengthens GNSS awareness by enabling centralized monitoring of GNSS observables. This allows operators to better understand signal conditions, detect anomalies early, and manage timing infrastructure more effectively in environments where GNSS reliability and security are critical.
At the same time, support for SkyWire technology helps maintain precise clock alignment across distributed systems. This becomes especially important as networks scale and rely more heavily on accurate phase and frequency synchronization to support advanced applications.
Microchip has also focused on usability. The updated interface makes it easier to visualize network relationships, identify issues quickly, and manage large, interconnected synchronization environments with less operational overhead. This is particularly relevant for sectors where timing precision is essential, including telecom, power, transportation, data centers, and emerging AI infrastructure.
To support growing network demands, TimePictra 12 can handle up to 5,000 elements, more than doubling the capacity of previous versions. It is designed to simplify deployment, speed up upgrades, and streamline configuration across large scale systems.
The platform integrates with a wide range of Microchip timing solutions, including the TimeProvider 4100, 4500, and 5000 grandmaster clocks, SSU 2000, TimeCesium 4400 and 5071, along with SkyWire and the BlueSky GNSS Firewall.
This enables centralized monitoring and control across critical infrastructure environments such as 5G networks, utilities, transportation systems, power substations, and data centers.
Leadership Comment
“Operators are looking for more than basic synchronization monitoring, they need tools that help them manage advanced timing architectures with confidence,” said Randy Brudzinski, corporate vice president of Microchip’s frequency and time systems business. “With the TimePictra 12 platform, Microchip is enabling customers to manage HA-TT connections, GNSS reception and dispersed clock alignment from a centralized platform designed for the next generation of critical infrastructure networks.”
Device compatibility may depend on software versions and licensing, so customers should consult official Microchip documentation for the latest supported products and configuration details. For more information about Microchip’s timing and synchronization solutions, visit the website.
