Sivers, Jabil Team Up for 1.6T AI Optical Breakthrough

THE VOLT VOTES

Sivers Semiconductors is teaming up with Jabil, the global engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing solutions giant. Together, they’re developing a 1.6T linear receive optical (LRO) transceiver module powered by Sivers’ high-performance Distributed Feedback (DFB) lasers.

This pluggable module promises ultra-energy-efficient optical interconnect speeds, helping next-gen hyperscale AI data centers roll out faster.

A recent LightCounting report (Optics for AI clusters, Jan 2025) predicts big growth ahead as 800G and higher-speed optical transceivers will dominate 80% of the pluggable market by 2030, with global shipments hitting 225 million units that year.

This collaboration couldn’t come at a better time, as demand surges for power-efficient, high-performance optical solutions to fuel AI infrastructure.

Leadership Comments

Sivers Semiconductors and Jabil 1.6T AI Optical Transceiver The Volt Post “Energy efficiency is now a hard requirement in AI infrastructure scaling,” said Alex McCann, Managing Director for Sivers’ Photonics business. “Jabil is an industry leader, and we are excited to supply our high-performance lasers for their ultra-low power 1.6T LRO optical transceivers for AI data centers.”

“Our customers are pushing for more bandwidth without increasing power consumption,” said Jason Wildt, Vice President and General Manager of Photonics at Jabil. “Working with Sivers will allow us to deliver a 1.6T LRO solution that meets both data center performance and power targets at scale.”
