Karnataka-Taiwan Pact Unleashes INR1,000 Cr Semiconductor Boom

Karnataka government has inked a pivotal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Taiwan Allegiance International Co. Ltd. to launch the Indo-Taiwan Industrial Technology Innovation Park (ITIP), backed by a substantial INR1,000 crore investment spread over five years.

This collaboration targets the booming electronics and semiconductor sectors, aiming to spawn approximately 800 direct high-value jobs through new company setups in the park.

The agreement, signed by Director Rahul Sharanappa Sankanur from the Department of Electronics, IT, BT and Allegiance VP Lawrence Chen, unfolded in the presence of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and IT Minister Priyank Kharge.?

Positioned as a premier destination for Taiwanese firms, the ITIP will prioritize cutting-edge manufacturing, research and development, chip design, PCB fabrication, and a resilient supply chain for electronic components.

Key features encompass partnerships with academic institutions for skill enhancement programs, seamless technology transfer, and adoption of international best practices to sharpen India’s edge in global electronics production.

This move reinforces Karnataka’s dominance in Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM), fueling the state’s semiconductor ambitions amid India’s push for self-reliance in advanced tech.?

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah hailed the partnership as a transformative stride toward establishing Karnataka as a worldwide center for electronics and semiconductor breakthroughs, unlocking tech investments and career prospects for the youth while embedding the state deeper into global value chains.
