New Flagship Multichannel GHz Digitizers from Spectrum

New flagship digitizers from Spectrum Instrumentation have a 12-bit resolution and can acquire up to 6 channels at 10 GS/s or 12 channels at 5 GS/s. The company’s Netbox series, which includes the new DN6.33x digitizers, is an easy-to-use instrument line that can be operated from any PC, laptop, or network with just an Ethernet wire.Flagship digitizers in Netbox series with DN6.33x digitizers

They are suited for automated testing applications because of a variety of hardware characteristics and a comprehensive software package that captures signals on numerous, precisely timed inputs.

With 15 additional variations, Spectrum now provides 94 distinct digitizer Netboxes with sampling speeds ranging from 5 MS/s to the lightning-fast 10 GS/s.

With sampling rates of 3.2, 6.4, or 10 GS/s and corresponding analog bandwidths of 1, 2, or 3 GHz, each channel of the new DN6.33x digitizers has a 12-bit ADC. With models with 4, 6, 8, 10, or 12 channels, users can have versatility without going over budget for unnecessary performance. If you simply need one or two channels, you can use the smaller DN2.33x series.

Key hardware features:

• Perfect synchronous sampling across all channels
• Four independent programmable input ranges (±200 mV to ±2.5 V) per channel with programmable offset, on-board calibration, and precise timing alignment
• The standard memory allows 200 ms capture duration at full speed, expandable to 800 ms
• Front panel connectors for external clocks, triggers, and digital I/O are standard

Advanced trigger capabilities combined with flexible acquisition modes, such as transient, multiple, and optional block averaging, enable the accurate capture of complicated or uncommon events.

Because every trigger has a unique timestamp, it is possible to time acquisitions that may be hours apart or only a few microseconds apart.

The robust SBench 6 Professional software for acquisition, presentation, analysis, and documentation is included with every unit. Large data files are easily handled by SBench 6, which also includes a variety of time and frequency display styles and a simple method for controlling Netbox instruments.

Developers can use the free SDKs, which are compatible with C++, Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, and other languages, to write their own programs when embedding a unit into automated testing systems.

19″ rack mounting kits and a high-speed pulse generator with four programmable outputs are optional extras.

Oliver Rovini, CTO at Spectrum Instrumentation for 25 years, reports: “The DN6.33x series combines speed, resolution, and ease of integration. These digitizers are ideal for MIMO, in communications or radar, or anywhere that time-correlated measurements may be needed, e.g. in aerospace, scientific research, photo-voltaic analysis and semiconductors. Each unit comes with a 5-year warranty, lifetime software/firmware updates, and support directly from our design engineers. For long-term test platforms, our 15 years of committed service and parts availability offer peace of mind”.
