Panasonic New Bluetooth Module Supports Bluetooth 6.0

Based on the powerful Nordic nRF54L15 single chip controller, Panasonic Industry’s PAN B611-1 Bluetooth module is currently in mass manufacturing and offers excellent performance values and low power consumption for all Matter applications. Additionally, the product now supports Bluetooth 6.0 and the state-of-the-art Bluetooth Channel Sounding technology, which allows for better wireless connection and accurate distance measuring. In February 2025, the PAN B611-1 was first revealed as PAN B511-1.

All 32 pins of the nRF54L15’s are routed out onto a hybrid packaging made up of LGA and castellated edges in a hybrid layout. This allows for easy prototyping with a specific number of pins at the edge and full utilization of the wireless SoC platform with the remaining GPIOs at the bottom.

The PAN B611-1 Bluetooth module is extremely compact, with 10.35 mm × 9.8 mm × 1.9 mm dimensions.

In this manner, it allows for one of the best pin-to-size ratios for Bluetooth modules available on the market while combining the benefits of both worlds without sacrificing space.

Its edge pins make hand soldering simpler and enable the use of low-cost 2-layer PCB designs and optical inspection techniques, which do away with the need for expensive X-ray machines.

The module, which is based on the nRF54L15, comes with a 256 kB RAM and an open embedded application processor based on the ARM Cortex-M33 processor that can clock up to 128 MHz for high performance embedded applications. Additionally, the module features 1.5 MB of non-volatile memory on the SoC.

But Panasonic goes above and beyond what is offered by the SoC in terms of functionalities.

The module is perfectly suited for the European market because to its 8dbm output power. Lighting, household appliances, industrial sensors, medical equipment, healthcare wearables, energy management devices, and solar farms are the primary target applications.

Additionally, because there are specific versions with larger flash memory and because the PAN B611-1 is completely compatible with the PAN MAX Service, which makes it easier to produce and start Matter production, it is perfect for Matter applications.

Aside from Matter, the incredibly flexible module supports a wide range of 2.4 GHz wireless protocols, such as Bluetooth LE, Bluetooth Mesh, IEEE 802.15.4, enabling Zigbee and Thread, and other proprietary third-party technologies. This makes it simple to create products for smart home standards like Matter and Zigbee and even permits the operation of multiple wireless protocols at once.

To accommodate a range of project requirements, the PAN B611-1 Bluetooth module is offered as a bottom pad version (-1B) or with an integrated chip antenna (-1C). It has certifications from the USA (FCC), Canada (ISED), Japan (MIC), the UK (UKCA), and Europe (CE RED).
