ANRITSU CORPORATION reports that its 5G NR Mobile Device Test Platform ME7834NR has successfully verified and supported 3GPP RAN5 Rel-17 NR NTN test cases.

“NR NTN”—the addition of Non-Terrestrial Networks to the 5G New Radio (NR) standards—is introduced in 3GPP Release 17. This development opens the door for worldwide 5G coverage beyond conventional infrastructure by allowing 5G devices to link to satellites using the same protocols as terrestrial base stations.
The conformance tests are in line with the fundamental requirements in TS 38.331 and are described by 3GPP in TS 38.523-1. Anritsu has submitted these tests to the Radio Access Network Working Group 5 (RAN WG5) of 3GPP. They can be found on the 3GPP RAN5 portal.
5G NR Mobile Device Test Platform ME7834NR
The GCF and PTCRB have registered the 5G NR Mobile Device Test Platform ME7834NR as Test Platform 251.
Mobile devices that use several radio access technologies can undergo carrier acceptance testing (CAT) and protocol conformance testing (PCT) based on 3GPP. In addition to LTE, LTE-Advanced, LTE-A Pro, W-CDMA, and now NTN, it supports 5G NR in both standalone and non-standalone modes.
The ME7834NR can be used for testing in the millimeter wave (mmWave) 5G NR and sub-6 GHz frequency bands when combined with Anritsu’s OTA RF chamber MA8171A and RF converters.
