As India’s data-centre market races to keep up with AI, cloud and digital-services demand, Messe München India and dmg events have announced AiX DataWorld 2027, a two-city conference and exhibition built specifically for the country’s data-centre ecosystem. The first edition will be held in Mumbai in the latter half of 2027, followed by a second in Chennai, under the tagline “The Infrastructure of Intelligence.”
Why a dedicated data-centre platform now
India’s installed data-centre capacity has already more than quadrupled since 2020, reaching about 1,575-1,800 MW, with projections pointing to 4,500-6,700 MW by 2030 as AI workloads, hyperscale cloud and data-localisation requirements kick in. Mumbai and Chennai together account for roughly two-thirds of current capacity, making them natural anchors for a national industry platform.
At the same time, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025, are pushing more sensitive and regulated data to stay onshore, with full enforcement expected by mid-2027. That regulatory push, combined with data-sovereignty priorities, is strengthening the case for trusted domestic infrastructure.
AiX DataWorld is being designed to connect the full value chain needed to deliver that infrastructure: developers, financiers, operators, technology providers and enterprise customers with growing compute and storage needs.
What AiX DataWorld will cover
The 2027 edition will combine an industry exhibition, a strategic conference, curated meetings and networking programmes. The exhibition floor is expected to showcase solutions across:
- Data-centre development, engineering and construction
- Power systems, energy storage, cooling technologies and renewable energy
- Connectivity, AI computing infrastructure and cybersecurity
- Equipment manufacturers, software providers, energy suppliers and consultants
Exhibitors and attendees will include senior decision-makers from hyperscalers, cloud and AI companies, telecom operators, utilities, financial institutions, government bodies and large enterprises in sectors such as BFSI, manufacturing, healthcare, e-commerce, media, logistics and technology services.
The conference track will focus on commercial, technical and policy issues shaping India’s data-centre growth, including AI infrastructure, power availability, energy efficiency, renewable integration, investment models, cybersecurity, data sovereignty and workforce development.

The organisers frame AiX DataWorld as a response to a simple reality: as India generates more data, it needs more domestic capacity to store, process and manage that data securely.
