Virtual electronic control units (vECUs), a key technology essential for effective software development and testing in today’s software-defined vehicles, will be made simple to design and implement for customers through this partnership between Tata Elxsi and Synopsys.

In order to lower development complexity and cost, enhance software system quality, and de-risk vehicle production timelines, the partnership combines Tata Elxsi’s embedded systems engineering capabilities with Synopsys’ industry-leading virtualization solutions, which are utilized by over 50 global automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers.

In addition to software bring-up, board support package (BSP) integration, and early-stage software validation, the companies are already working together on programs with a number of international customers to enable vECUs.

In order to assist customers replicate real-world scenarios, evaluate software early, and lessen their need on physical prototypes, these technologies are being implemented across vehicle domains such as powertrain, chassis, body control, gateway, and central computing.

The duo will work together to explore ways to scale and expedite the implementation of electronics digital twins for systems with multiple ECUs and application-specific requirements.
