Metis Engineering has announced the release of their latest product, the Analogue to Digital CAN Module. This cutting-edge device is designed to effortlessly transform analogue signals into digital data, allowing for better interaction with Controller Area Network (CAN) systems in a variety of industries, including automotive, marine, aerospace, marine energy storage, and industrial automation.
The 12bit 8 channel Analogue to Digital CAN Module can measure 0-5V signals in precise 0.003V increments at sampling rates of up to 333 Hz. Each channel includes a 10k? pull-down resistor, allowing for direct connection to resistance-based temperature sensors without extra components.
In addition to analogue input, the module features pulse-width modulation (PWM), duty cycle and frequency measurement, digital input status, and a pulse counter, making it perfect for traction control applications.
The module also has a low-power sleep mode that consumes less than 1mA and can wake up on voltage thresholds, making it appropriate for usage as a CAN wake-up device using external triggers such as a button press.
Its compact design allows for easy integration into existing systems, while the robust construction and automotive IP67-rated connector provide great dependability even in hostile settings. The CAN bus speed and address can be configured, and a DBC file is provided for easy integration into almost any CAN network.
The module is compatible with a wide range of sensors and devices, making it ideal for a variety of applications that require precise data acquisition and transmission. Its plug-and-play nature makes installation easier, lowering downtime and implementation costs.
