FLIR set about producing its new EV45-T2 EV charger test adapter with Type 2 plug and Type 1 converter, which is also available in kit form as the EV-KIT-2. Each package includes a FLIR DM286 digital multimeter with IGM® infrared guided measurment technology.
FLIR has introduced a line of robust, handheld Electrical Vehicle (EV) Charger testing tool and test kits to help check the safety and operation of EV charging stations. The new, user-friendly products also help to speed up the installation and maintenance of public and private EV chargers, as well as the diagnose and troubleshooting of EV supply equipment(EVSE).
Charging station operators, service/maintenance providers, and automotive equipment manufacturers all face similar challenges, such as maintaining EV charging station safety by inspecting protective earth (PE) and electrical wiring integrity, verifying EV charger maximum current output, and ensuring compliance with CAT II 300V and IEC 61851-1 EV safety standards.

EV45-T2
The FLIR EV45-T2 includes an IEC 62196-2 Type 2 plug for charging stations or AC wall hookups. It is also compatible with SAE J1772 Type 1 charging stations, which come with a small converter.
The EV45-T2 complies with CAT II 300V and IEC 61851-1 EV safety standards and includes the following features, as well as residual current device (RCD) testing for electrical safety.
- Maintaining EV charging station safety by checking PE and electrical wiring integrity.
• Testing the charge current interrupt device (CCID) to ensure electrical safety.
• Indicating/verifying the maximum current output of EV chargers.
• Controlling pilot state indication and simulation.

Comprehensive kit solutions
Along with the test adapter and test leads, the FLIR EV charger test kits include a FLIR DM286 digital multimeter with IGM® infrared guided measurement technology.
The DM286 allows users to measure voltage and frequency, which adds to their ability to troubleshoot and diagnose any electrical faults.
The multimeter’s Bluetooth® FLIR METERLiNK® technology connects users wirelessly to the METERLiNK® software on mobile devices, allowing for quick documentation, reporting, and sharing of data.
