Mouser-Sponsored BattleBots 250-Pound Robot at FIRST Robotics Competition

Mouser Electronics has announced that it will continue to sponsor the FIRST® Robotics Competition, which annually inspires tens of thousands of young people to be innovative and develop well-rounded life skills. At the upcoming FIRST Championship, which will take place from April 16–19 at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas, Mouser will serve as the registration sponsor.Mouser-sponsored BattleBots Team 250-pound robot the volt post

The Mouser-sponsored BattleBots Team HUGE and its hefty 250-pound robot will make a special appearance at the Innovation Faire, where Mouser will have an exhibit at the Championship.

The FIRST Robotics Competition blends the demands of science and technology with the thrill of athletics. Student teams must construct industrial-sized robots to play challenging field games in collaboration with other teams under stringent guidelines, with limited time and resources. They must also raise money to achieve their objectives, create a team brand, and promote STEM appreciation and respect in the neighborhood.

For more than ten years, Mouser has been a key supporter of FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), a prominent nonprofit organization that works with young people to advance STEM education through interactive robotics programs that teach collaboration, problem-solving, and other skills.

In addition to actively supporting FIRST teams in its local community by offering grants to high school teams around Tarrant County, Texas, Mouser was a key sponsor of the FIRST in Texas District Championship in early April.

“Since Mouser’s humble beginnings, education has played a key role in our mission,” said Kevin Hess, Mouser’s Senior Vice President of Marketing. “We are very excited to be a strong supporter of the FIRST Robotics Competition since 2014. The organization gives students a platform for innovation, a chance to learn valuable engineering skills, and an opportunity to build character and self-esteem.”
