Infineon MCU Biz Logs 13.0pc Annual Growth, Now Leads Global Market

The market leader for microcontrollers worldwide is now Infineon Technologies. As per the most recent research conducted by Omdia [1], Infineon microcontrollers achieved the biggest year-over-year rise (3.5 percentage points) among its rivals, increasing its market share to 21.3 percent in 2024 (2023: 17.8 percent). For the first time in its history, this places Infineon as the world’s most successful microcontroller supplier.Infineon microcontrollers market leader worldwide - Omdia the vot post

Over the past few years, Infineon microcontrollers have surpassed the market. While the market as a whole expanded by only 4.0 percent annually since 2015, Infineon microcontroller business grew by an average of 13.0 percent annually. These figures were revealed by Infineon in its official release.

For the first time, Infineon rose to the top of the worldwide automotive microcontroller market in 2023. The business has now accomplished the same in the whole microcontroller market, including all end markets.

According to Omdia, the total market volume of global microcontroller sales in 2024 was $22.4 billion, after $28.0 billion in 2023.

AURIX, TRAVEO, PSOC, XMC, and security microcontrollers are just a few of the well-known product families in Infineon’s microcontroller portfolio that cater to the demands of these applications.

Infineon is exhibiting both its current portfolio and an ambitious innovation roadmap at Embedded World 2025, one of the top international trade shows devoted to embedded systems technology.

For instance, in the upcoming years, a new family of RISC-V-based automotive microcontrollers will be introduced under the AURIX name. Infineon’s current core portfolio, which is built on TriCore and Arm®, will be expanded by this new family.

The first semiconductor manufacturer to introduce a RISC-V-based microcontroller specifically for the automotive industry is Infineon. The sophisticated computing needs of software-defined cars will be met by the new family.

Microcontrollers are the brains behind a wide range of applications, including industrial machinery that boosts productivity, IoT gadgets that transform how we live, work, and interact, and automotive systems that make cars smart, safe, and clean.
