element14 has expanded its line of artificial intelligence devices with the release of the new Raspberry Pi AI Camera. The Raspberry Pi AI Camera, a partnership with Sony based on their IMX500 Intelligent Vision Sensor, is available for about $70 USD and has on-module processing that works with all of the Raspberry Pi single-board computer (SBC) lineup.Raspberry Pi AI Camera at an Unbeatable Price Only at element14

The Raspberry Pi AI Camera simplifies complicated AI activities at the edge because all processing is done on the Raspberry Pi AI Camera module itself, leaving the processor in the host Raspberry Pi SBC free to do other operations.

The Sony IMX500 12MP Intelligent Vision Sensor, which comes with an integrated low-power inference engine pre-installed with the MobileNet machine vision model, is the focal point of the camera. With a manually adjustable focus and 200mm wires for effortless connection to any Raspberry Pi SBC, it has a 76-degree field of vision.

Simon Wade, Senior Global Product Manager, Single Board Computing at element14, said,This new AI camera module is a remarkable addition to the Raspberry Pi range. As AI-driven applications proliferate across many industries, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that Raspberry Pi and Sony are leading the way to bring optic processing power to the edge. No matter which Raspberry Pi SBC you use, it is compatible with the AI Camera module.

Wade addedRaspberry Pi 5 is already highly regarded for its extraordinary processing intelligence, and the ability to effortlessly add the Raspberry Pi AI Camera is further evidence of the board’s exceptional versatility. The benefit to individual developers, casual hobbyists, or large industrial complexes is that it delivers powerful compute power to where it’s needed most, at the edge.”

The Raspberry Pi AI Camera is now available and shipping from Farnell in EMEA, Newark in North America and element14 in APAC.
