With the help of Amazon Web Services (AWS), Continental Mobile Robots has created new software for autonomous mobile robots (AMR). The primary objective of the indulgence is to oversee the hybrid deployment of Continental’s scalable AMR navigation software stack, which drives several product lines including Agriculture and Intralogistics.
Continental has accelerated its innovation journey and implemented the first version of their robot autonomy software stack by working with the AWS Prototyping and Cloud Engineering (PACE) team. Customers are able to manage deployments at scale more effectively because of the collaboration between Continental and AWS throughout the Autonomous Mobile Robots lifespan.
Extensive simulations may be used to realize features like remote debugging and monitoring or optimizing the deployment qualification and onboarding process. Additionally, the stack makes it possible for AI modules to offer on-demand computation, such as safe navigation. The agreement maintains the long-standing partnership between AWS and Continental and leverages AWS’s cloud computing capabilities with Continental’s experience in Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR) technology to spur innovation and quicken the widespread use of mobile robots.
“Innovation-driven services from AWS will help us to deliver state of the art Mobile Robots with outstanding safety and reliability. The platform has already been deployed successfully in first customer use cases in the Intralogistics environment. We look forward to bringing an industry leading experience for deployment and operations of our Mobile Robots to even more of our customers”, said Rahul Singh, Global Head of AMR Software at Continental.
“At AWS, we are adept at leveraging our industry expertise and purpose-built services, together with new and emerging technologies to help our customers experiment and push the boundaries of what’s possible in their sector”, said Adrian De Luca, Director of Cloud Acceleration for Asia, Pacific, and Japan, at AWS. “Our collaborative work with Continental across a number of areas demonstrates that through the power of the cloud and AWS’ deep industry knowledge, we can help customers unlock the true potential of Autonomous Mobile Robots for their industries.”
Software solutions for better control and monitoring of AMR fleets
Robot hardware, an advanced autonomous software stack, and AI-enabled fleet management software, all backed by reliable partners, make up Continental’s all-inclusive AMR solutions. Continental Mobile Robots is creating a cloud-based platform for controlling mobile robots using AWS services, giving partners and clients the freedom to tailor solutions to meet their particular industrial demands.
A worldwide team of professionals from Continental Mobile Robots developed this scalable and adaptable platform for effective AMR deployment and operations using AWS services, with help and industry-specific direction from AWS.
Continental Mobile Robots wants to enhance its IT infrastructure by leveraging AWS’ serverless computing, analytics, machine learning, and other cutting-edge features like Internet of Things (IoT).
Mobile Robot solutions for Intralogistics and Agriculture increase efficiency in operations
As a division of Continental’s Automotive Group Sector, Continental Mobile Robots presently concentrates on two product lines for autonomous mobile robots: agriculture and intralogistics. At automotive and intralogistics locations throughout Europe, Asia, and North America, the Intralogistics AMR has already been successfully implemented.
The Intralogistics system minimizes mistakes in repeated activities, increases material flow speed, and mitigates labor scarcity and operational cost issues—all of which are key difficulties in today’s diversified industrial landscapes.
By the end of 2024, the agricultural solution will be on the market. The idea is modular and comprises an autonomous carrier vehicle for controlled-environment agriculture. This vehicle may be outfitted with different implements from the partner network to accomplish various jobs like as selective harvesting, ultraviolet light (UVC) treatment.
