Vishay Intertechnology has expanded its ultafast FRED Pt Rectifiers lineup with 16 new devices in the low-profile DFN6546A package, designed to deliver more efficient, space-saving power solutions for commercial, industrial, and automotive applications.

The new FRED Pt ultrafast rectifier 200 V parts are available with current ratings from 6 A to 15 A, in both commercial and AEC-Q101 qualified Automotive Grade versions.
What makes this package stand out is its compact size. Measuring just 6.5 mm x 4.6 mm and only 0.88 mm high, the DFN6546A helps engineers save board space without giving up performance.
Vishay says the package’s optimized copper mass and advanced die placement also improve thermal behavior, allowing the devices to handle higher current ratings more effectively.
Compared with 200 V parts in the SMPC (TO-277A) package using the same footprint, the new rectifiers are 10% thinner and offer 50% higher current capability.
The single and dual versions are built for a wide range of power tasks, including high-frequency inverters, DC/DC converters, freewheeling diodes, load dump protection, clamps, snubbers, and reverse or series polarity protection.
They are also well suited for LED backlighting and automotive systems such as ECUs, lighting modules, ADAS, lidar, camera systems, and 48 V boardnets used in EVs, HEVs, chargers, and battery management systems. Beyond automotive, the devices also fit industrial automation, consumer electronics, telecom, medical equipment, and energy harvesting applications.
Performance is another strong point. The rectifiers offer low reverse leakage current, a wide operating temperature range from -55 °C to +175 °C, and a low forward voltage drop of 0.75 V.
Combined with fast reverse recovery time and low reverse recovery charge, that helps cut power loss and improve overall efficiency.
Vishay has also made the package easier to work with in production. The wettable flanks support automatic optical inspection, removing the need for X-ray inspection, while the parts are optimized for automated placement.
They are MSL 1 rated, support a maximum peak reflow temperature of 260 °C, and are RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and matte tin-plated for strong whisker resistance.
Overall, the new DFN6546A FRED Pt ultrafast rectifier look well positioned for designers who want higher efficiency, better thermal performance, and a smaller footprint in demanding power applications.
