Simple Energy Opts Siemens Xcelerator to Accelerate EV Development

THE VOLT VOTES

Siemens Digital Industries Software has announced that Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturer Simple Energy is expanding its use of Siemens’ cloud-based software to support advanced product engineering and digital transformation as it grows its electric vehicle portfolio.

The company is extending its use of the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio with Teamcenter® X for product lifecycle management (PLM) and Designcenter™ X for vehicle engineering.

Simple Energy is also using Teamcenter X’s advanced product configurator to manage complex vehicle variants and enterprise-level bills of materials (BOMs). The integrated digital environment is designed to improve collaboration across engineering teams while helping the company maintain flexibility and cost efficiency.

Simple Energy first adopted Teamcenter X as a centralised product data management platform to connect its engineering functions. As its EV programmes developed, the company expanded the software’s use to support enterprise BOM management and vehicle configuration through a “150 percent BOM approach.”

This approach creates a master configurable BOM containing all possible components, options and variants within a vehicle family. Teamcenter X can then generate specific 100 percent BOMs for individual customer orders, making it easier for Simple Energy to manage multiple vehicle configurations.

The company has also replaced its legacy 3D CAD system with Siemens’ Designcenter X as vehicle design and assembly requirements have become more complex. Integrated with Teamcenter X, the platform supports advanced surface design, large assembly performance, and 3D electrical routing and harness design.

Siemens’ value-based licensing model allows Simple Energy to expand its software usage in line with its business growth, while the connected engineering environment helps teams manage increasing product complexity more efficiently.

“As our products scale in complexity, we’re strengthening the systems behind how we build them. With Teamcenter X and Designcenter X, we’re able to manage complex variants and large assemblies with greater speed and control – enabling us to accelerate development without compromising agility.”, said Kiran Poojary, chief technology officer at Simple Energy.

“Simple Energy’s expansion of its Siemens’ software footprint demonstrates how customers can scale their digital foundation as product complexity increases,” said Matthew Thomas, vice president and managing director for India, Siemens Digital Industries Software. “Through close collaboration, we are supporting Simple Energy with a fully integrated vehicle engineering and lifecycle management digital thread that helps accelerate innovation and support its growth targets.”
