The new OVMed ultra-thin, medical-grade LED cable modules are compatible with OCHTA, OCHFA, OCHSA, and OCH2B CameraCubeChip® devices and support a wide variety of endoscopic applications.

These include everything from ophthalmoscopes and bronchoscopes to laparoscopes, colonoscopes, and arthroscopes, covering both diagnostic and surgical use cases.

Designed for performance and reliability, the OVMed cable modules deliver:

  • High-quality imaging with minimal artifacts,
  • Ensures accurate transmission of visuals from the distal tip of the endoscope to the proximal end.
  • They are engineered to be compact, flexible, and mechanically robust, while maintaining a slim profile suited for minimally invasive procedures.

The modules also meet strict EMC and EMI requirements under IEC 60601 standards. This ensures they can handle high-energy discharges during complex imaging procedures without causing interference with other medical equipment.

OMNIVISION also offers customization options to meet specific customer needs, including variations in camera configurations, cable types, connectors, LED illumination, and distal tip design. Backed by high-volume manufacturing capabilities and a portfolio of standardized products, the company enables quicker development cycles and reduced time to market.

All OVMed cable modules undergo extensive testing and certification, including stress, sterilization, biocompatibility, waterproofing, and EMI/EMC evaluations.

Manufactured in ISO 13485-certified facilities, these components are designed to streamline regulatory approval processes, including FDA certification, while ensuring reliability and safety for both healthcare providers and patients.

“The medical industry is moving toward smaller, higher-resolution CMOS chip-on-tip endoscopes with LED illumination and ultra-thin cable modules that can reach deeper inside the body. In addition, medical endoscope manufacturers need the flexibility to customize their designs for specific endoscopy procedures,” said Thomas Xu, senior medical product marketing manager, OMNIVISION. “As the medical industry’s leading image sensor provider, we are addressing our customers’ need for a turnkey imaging solution through our OVMed® family of cable modules and image signal processors. The compact, ultra-thin, customizable cable modules are medical-grade tested and ready for integration—reducing design and testing time and simplifying the supply chain.
