Littelfuse has introduced the NANO2 Surface-Mount 708 Series Fuse, marking its first surface-mount fuse to deliver a 14,000 A interrupting rating at 80 VDC.

Built for next-generation 48 VDC power architectures, the 708 Series is designed to meet the rising protection needs of AI servers, hyperscale data centers, and high-density power systems.
As power demands increase and board space becomes more constrained, designers have often had to rely on bulky, manually installed through-hole or bolt-down fuses. This new series offers a compact, surface-mount alternative that supports automated assembly without sacrificing performance.
The NANO2® 708 Series combines high current ratings from 60 A to 200 A, with a leading interrupting rating in a small footprint. This allows engineers to safeguard circuits exposed to high fault currents while optimizing board layout and enabling fully automated manufacturing.
Key features and benefits include:
- A 14 kA interrupting rating at 80 VDC, suitable for high fault current environments
- High current handling from 60 A to 200 A for demanding applications
- A compact surface-mount design that supports space-constrained, high-density layouts
- Compatibility with automated assembly, removing the need for manual installation
- Strong pulse resistance and compliance with global safety standards
The NANO2 Surface-Mount 708 Series Fuse is intended for supplemental overcurrent protection in applications where high fault currents are expected.
These include power distribution units (PDUs), power shelves, battery backup units (BBUs), and power supply units (PSUs). It is particularly well-suited for AI server clusters, networking equipment, and hyperscale data center infrastructure.
Beyond data centers, the series can also be used in renewable energy systems and battery management systems (BMS), where compact, high-power protection is essential.
The 708 Series joins Littelfuse’s broader portfolio of 48 V protection solutions for data center infrastructure, complementing existing fuse families such as the 456, 871, and 881 Series.
Key Comment
“With this new fuse—our first Littelfuse surface-mount fuse to deliver a 14,000 A interrupt rating at 80 VDC—we’re giving designers using legacy through-hole or bolt-down solutions a path to transition to surface-mount technology,” said Daniel Wang, Senior Director of Product Management, Over Current–Passives, at Littelfuse. “That shift enables automated manufacturing, improves productivity, and reduces overall system cost.”
