Infineon Drives Next-Gen Megawatt Charging with ADVANTICS

THE VOLT VOTES

Infineon Technologies is teaming up with ADVANTICS to bring its CoolSiC™ 1200 V MOSFETs and dual-channel EiceDRIVER™ 2EDB9259Y gate drivers into a new generation of liquid-cooled power converters.

These systems are designed to push efficiency, power density, and reliability to the next level, especially for demanding applications like megawatt charging systems (MCS) for heavy-duty vehicles and marine vessels, along with energy storage and DC microgrids powering data centers.

As industries move toward electrification, one major bottleneck remains charging speed. For heavy trucks, mining equipment, and ships, conventional infrastructure simply doesn’t keep up.

Megawatt charging systems aim to solve this by delivering charging speeds up to ten times faster, helping make electric mobility viable in sectors that have traditionally been hard to decarbonize. Through this collaboration, Infineon and ADVANTICS are accelerating the development of these high-power solutions and strengthening the foundation for more resilient grid infrastructure.

At the core of ADVANTICS’ platform is a modular design built around 100 kW blocks, which can be scaled up to megawatt-level systems.

The converters support bidirectional power flow, operate across a wide voltage range up to 1500 V, and achieve peak efficiency of up to 98.5%. This flexibility allows seamless integration with grids, battery systems, and high-power charging networks, making them well-suited for heavy transport, marine applications, and advanced energy systems.

Together, Infineon and ADVANTICS are not just improving power conversion, they’re helping shape a faster, more efficient path toward electrification and sustainable energy infrastructure.

“Together with ADVANTICS, we are helping accelerate the deployment of megawatt charging infrastructure. Our technologies enable more efficient and compact power conversion systems, supporting the next generation of electric transport applications,” said Rodrigo Marquina, Application Manager Power Supply and EV Charging at Infineon.

“It is no longer controversial to say that SiC is the future of high-power conversion. With almost a decade of experience bringing SiC-based power converters to market, our belief in this technology is stronger than ever. Infineon is an important partner for us on this path, and we are very excited to write the next chapters together as we help drive a more sustainable future,” said Anders Mikkelsen, Director of R&D and co-founder of ADVANTICS.
