Everspin Technologies and Teledyne HiRel Semiconductors have entered into a strategic partnership aimed at accelerating the adoption of Everspin’s magnetoresistive random-access memory (MRAM) in aerospace, defence and other demanding electronic systems.

The collaboration will initially focus on Everspin’s 256Mb PERSYST spin-transfer torque MRAM (STT-MRAM).
PERSYST is a non-volatile memory technology that combines RAM-like speed with the ability to retain data during power loss, system resets and unexpected interruptions.
Under the agreement, Teledyne HiRel will add Everspin’s 256Mb PERSYST STT-MRAM to its memory portfolio for military and aerospace customers. The product will be targeted at applications including avionics, VPX and single-board computer platforms, radar and electronic-warfare payloads, satellite electronics, autonomous systems and other next-generation electronic systems.
The partnership also covers Everspin’s 64Mb and 128Mb PERSYST STT-MRAM products. These additional density options are intended to support different system and programme requirements.
Supporting long-life electronic systems
Component availability, lifecycle planning and long-term supply have become increasingly important for aerospace and defence programmes that may remain in service for decades.
Customers are therefore looking for persistent-memory solutions that offer fast write performance, high endurance and data retention during power interruptions. These capabilities are particularly valuable for startup data, configuration storage, event logging and recovery functions that must remain accessible throughout a system’s service life.
PERSYST MRAM supports frequent write operations and retains data without battery backup. This means it can replace or complement NOR flash in applications that require faster updates or power-loss-safe storage.
The technology may also reduce dependence on battery-backed SRAM, hold-up power and capacitor-backed memory systems.
By combining RAM-like access with non-volatile data retention, MRAM can help simplify designs that would otherwise require separate volatile memory, non-volatile storage, backup-power systems, wear-levelling techniques or complex data-protection circuitry.
Teledyne HiRel to provide programme support
Teledyne HiRel will support the new memory offering with product guidance, screening flows, qualification documentation, procurement assistance and obsolescence-management services.
These capabilities are designed to help customers integrate the memory into systems where reliability, supply continuity and long-term availability are critical considerations.
PERSYST MRAM products will ship from Teledyne HiRel Semiconductors’ facility in Milpitas, California. Customer availability is expected in the fourth quarter of 2026.
