These upcoming enhancements, expected later in 2026 in NI Nigel AI, are aimed at helping engineers in industries like aerospace, semiconductors, and transportation speed up product development while still meeting strict safety and reliability standards.

NI Nigel AI is purpose-built for test engineering environments, where precision, transparency, and control are critical.

With this expansion, the AI will extend across Emerson’s broader software ecosystem including NI FlexLogger™, NI InstrumentStudio™, NI TestStand™, and NI SystemLink™ offering context-aware support throughout the entire test lifecycle, from development and reuse to validation and deployment.

As systems grow more complex and automation becomes essential, Emerson’s NI platform is designed to bring everything together modular hardware, open software, and a scalable data foundation.

By embedding AI directly into everyday engineering tools, teams can work faster and make more informed decisions without compromising on measurement accuracy or system reliability. In fact, internal testing shows that Nigel AI can reduce test development and troubleshooting time from days or hours down to just minutes.

At the hardware level, the NI platform is optimized for low size, weight, and power consumption, while still offering high configurability and support for diverse signals, precise timing, and high-performance data movement.

On the software side, NI connects different operating environments and computing technologies, allowing test workflows to evolve naturally and incorporate AI over time.

A shared data foundation ties it all together, making it easier to capture, manage, and reuse measurement data unlocking better analytics, smoother collaboration, and long-term system optimization across teams and locations.

At the NI Connect keynote, companies such as NVIDIA, Alstom, Valeo, Zap Energy, and Cyth Systems shared how they are already leveraging Emerson’s NI test and measurement solutions to accelerate the development and validation of next-generation technologies.

“The NI platform has evolved through every major shift in technology, continually improving how test engineers reach their goals,” said Ritu Favre, president of Emerson’s test and measurement business. “As AI reshapes product development, it’s this adaptability that allows our AI-ready platform to stand out. The real strength of the NI platform isn’t any single capability; it’s in the integration of hardware, software, data and ecosystem that engineers can rely on as technology continues to evolve.”
