Infineon Technologies has decided to enhance its outsourced backend manufacturing presence in Europe through a new multi-year collaboration with Amkor Technology.
The two companies will be establishing a specialized packaging and testing facility under OSAT Business Model at Amkor’s manufacturing location in Porto. It is anticipated that operations will begin in the initial months of 2025.
Through this extended OSAT Business Model partnership, Infineon and Amkor solidify their collaboration by enhancing specialized packaging and testing technology.
Amkor’s expansion of facilities in Porto to manage the production line, along with the provision of exclusive clean room space, combined with Infineon’s on-site engineering and development team, demonstrates a commitment to mutual success.
This Infineon, Amkor Solidify OSAT Business Model collaboration not only reinforces the semiconductor supply chain in Europe but also enhances its resilience, particularly benefiting automotive clients.
It complements Infineon’s existing manufacturing footprint, ensuring a well-rounded approach that combines in-house and outsourced production capabilities.
