Pickering Interfaces has launched its highest?current LXI switching solutions, the new 60-191 LXI high current & sense SPST switching family. Designed for demanding automated test environments, these units can switch up to 80 A at 300 V, giving engineers tighter control over distribution, sequencing, and management of multiple high-current power supplies.

At the heart of the range are four standard configurations that combine up to twenty 40 A and four 80 A hermetically sealed SPST-NO contactors with matching 1 A SPST relays for sense lines.
Both power and sense connections are brought out to front-panel screw terminals, and customers can request custom relay mixes or alternative connector styles to suit specific system designs.
The 60-191 LXI high current & sense SPST switching family sit between several high-current PSUs and the device or system under test, allowing each PSU’s positive and negative outputs and their associated high- and low-sense lines to be connected or disconnected under software control.
Engineers can address every relay individually or operate two high-current and two low-current relays together with a single command, streamlining the four-wire connections commonly used by precision power supplies.
To support complex test workflows, each unit offers:
- An onboard sequencing service capable of storing up to 5,000 predefined switching sequences.
- These sequences can be executed via software or configurable hardware triggers, and because they are stored locally in the LXI controller, they help cut host transactions and reduce overall system latency.
- Front-panel LEDs provide instant visual feedback on switch status, while relay cycle counting enables preventive maintenance and helps distribute wear evenly across available paths.
- Control is provided over a LXI 1.5-compliant 1000Base-T Ethernet interface, using either an API or the built-in soft front panel.
- IVI and direct I/O drivers are available for Windows and Linux, supporting common development environments such as LabVIEW, Python, C/C++, C#, MATLAB, and Simulink.
Target applications include:
EV battery and high-drain automotive electronics testing, fuel-cell and hydrogen-electrolysis research, solar inverter and energy-storage systems, aerospace programs, and functional or production test of high-current PSUs.
All four standard configurations ship with a three-year warranty and guaranteed long-term product support.
