R&M Unveils Fourth-Gen R&Mfreenet 4.0

THE VOLT VOTES

R&M has introduced the fourth generation of its standard cabling system, R&Mfreenet. The company says R&Mfreenet 4.0 is more than just a structured cabling portfolio with connectivity, cables, distributors and outlets.

It is designed to simplify and improve the planning, installation and operation of data networks.

At the heart of R&Mfreenet 4.0 is a modular system for the physical layer of local area networks. A major focus is the updated and harmonized range of RJ45 connection modules.

R&M has reduced the number of EL4.0 module variants to just two per category, while also integrating several small parts directly into the module. That includes features such as strain relief, colour coding and the protective flap. The Easy Lock assembly process has also been streamlined into a single step.

The system includes installation and patch cords built to high quality standards. R&M says it is the only manufacturer to connect the copper wires in its patch cords using corrosion-resistant IDC technology that is designed to withstand strain and vibration.

The plug contacts are coated with a defined layer of gold to support stable signal transmission in all conditions. Before installation cables are approved for use, they must pass R&M’s endurance testing. The company also manages its own supply chain to keep installation cables available worldwide.

For distributors and equipment, R&M offers the modular Freenet rack family, which can be configured to suit different project requirements.

R&Mfreenet 4.0 is designed to support structured cabling as well as complete passive infrastructure for modern Ethernet/IP networks across a wide range of commercial environments. These include IT, offices, data centres, retail and industrial settings, as well as WiFi and IP-based building automation.

With Cat. 8.1 ISO products, the system supports networks capable of up to 40 Gigabit/s data speeds. It also includes fibre optic solutions for backbones, digital ceilings, Fibre to the Office, and extended or hybrid networks.

In addition, the system supports Power over Ethernet at the highest performance level for remotely powering connected devices. R&M identifies specially tested PoE-stable products with its PowerSafe seal.

Customers who install R&Mfreenet 4.0 can receive lifetime application warranties, provided the network is installed and tested by qualified specialists in line with R&M’s specifications.
