onsemi Unveils Industry-First SiC Pairing Studio for Faster Power Design

THE VOLT VOTES

onsemi has introduced the Elite Pairing Studio, an online design environment built to simplify how engineers match silicon carbide (SiC) MOSFETs with gate drivers for high-performance power applications. Whether it’s AI data centers, electric vehicles, or industrial systems, the tool helps engineers make smarter pairing decisions early in the design cycle by clearly showing how different device combinations behave and where trade-offs lie.

At its core, the  Elite Pairing Studio moves beyond traditional component selection. Instead of relying on manual datasheet comparisons, spreadsheets, and trial-and-error simulations, engineers can quickly evaluate recommended SiC MOSFET and gate driver pairings tailored to their specific requirements.

This not only speeds up development but also reduces the number of design iterations before moving to full system-level analysis.

The platform offers an interactive, cloud-based workspace where users can explore device combinations through a guided workflow. Engineers gain visibility into key performance parameters such as switching timing, voltage and current waveforms, voltage overshoot margins, and switching energy losses.

These insights are presented through an intuitive waveform viewer, making it easier to understand how each pairing impacts efficiency, reliability, and electromagnetic performance.

One of the standout aspects of the Studio is its transparency. The evaluation logic is based on established industry equations and real-world performance calculations, and users can inspect how recommendations are generated.

This builds confidence in the results while allowing engineers to fine-tune their selections based on application-specific priorities.

The Elite Pairing Studio also serves as the entry point to onsemi’s broader design ecosystem.

Once a suitable pairing is identified, engineers can export models into PLECS and continue system-level simulations using the Elite Power Simulator. This creates a seamless workflow from early device selection through to detailed analysis of efficiency, thermal behavior, and overall system performance.

onsemi Launches Elite Pairing Studio for SiC MOSFET Design The Volt PostAs power electronics designs grow increasingly complex, early-stage decisions around component pairing can significantly impact final system outcomes. By simplifying this process and providing clear, actionable insights upfront, the Elite Pairing Studio helps reduce design risk, accelerate time to market, and improve real-world performance.

The online design environment tool is available now on onsemi’s website and will be showcased at PCIM Expo 2026 in Nuremberg, where attendees can see it in action.
