Rohde & Schwarz has equipped Taiwan-based BTL Laboratory with its R&S TS8991 OTA test system, fully aligned with CTIA Certification standards. Beyond supplying the system, the company played an active role on the ground, guiding BTL through the accreditation audits and ensuring everything met the required benchmarks.
As a result, BTL becomes the first test house in Taiwan to offer comprehensive over-the-air (OTA) testing and CTIA-compliant certification using a Rohde & Schwarz platform.
The deployment was delivered as a complete, turnkey solution. Rohde & Schwarz provided not just the TS8991 OTA system, but also the associated measurement software, along with a fully integrated third-party test chamber and positioner. This single-source approach streamlined the entire setup, eliminating the complexity typically associated with multi-vendor integration.
Support extended well beyond installation. Rohde & Schwarz experts worked closely with BTL throughout the accreditation process, assisting during audits conducted by both the Taiwan Accreditation Foundation (TAF) and CTIA Certification. Their involvement helped ensure measurement accuracy, consistency, and full compliance with certification requirements.
Both teams also collaborated to fine-tune the test environment, ensuring the chamber and supporting infrastructure delivered interference-free conditions-critical for reliable OTA measurements. This level of integration and coordination significantly simplified procurement and deployment for BTL.
With CTIA accreditation now in place and the TS8991 system operational, BTL can offer OTA testing for a wide range of wireless technologies, including 2G through 5G, as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, with a particular focus on devices like notebooks and laptops.
The system’s software can be upgraded to support emerging standards such as A-GNSS, ensuring long-term relevance.
In addition, Rohde & Schwarz has helped BTL expand into more advanced capabilities, including satellite payload antenna testing, by bringing in its antenna measurement expertise.
