R&M is streamlining its RJ45 modules portfolio. The company is now standardizing its LAN connection modules with a unified design, cutting the number of variants to just two per category.

This makes it much easier for installers and planners to quickly find the right solution for any LAN project without having to dig through catalogs to piece together compatible Ethernet modules and components. At the same time, trade, purchasing, and warehouse teams can manage fewer SKUs and product numbers.
R&M is also simplifying on?site installation. The modernized Cat. 6A, Cat. 6, and Cat. 5e modules all use R&M’s Easy Lock quick?mounting technology.
With Easy Lock, wiring the guide, connecting the copper conductors, and closing the housing happen in a single step. The company has also integrated tension relief, color coding, and a dust?cover flap directly into the housing, so installers handle fewer loose small parts that are easy to drop and lose.

R&M is gradually doing away with plastic packaging as well. RJ45 modules are now available either as bulk goods in slim, thin?walled boxes made from recycled cardboard or individually packed in paper bags.
Installers can grab modules directly without cutting open plastic bags, and packaging waste is reduced and can be separated into the standard cardboard cycle.

Modules for LAN up to 10 Gigabit Ethernet and beyond
The harmonized RJ45 module range is part of the R&Mfreenet structured cabling system for LANs. It focuses on the Cat. 6A EL4.0, Cat. 6 EL4.0, and Cat. 5e EL4.0 product lines. The “EL” stands for “Easy Lock,” and “4.0” marks the fourth generation.
The new modules are offered without adapters and fit all network outlets and patch panels in the R&Mfreenet system. Adapters for third?party products, such as Keystone?style jacks, are available separately, making R&M’s RJ45 modules truly universal worldwide.

R&M offers the LAN modules in both shielded (zinc die?cast housing) and unshielded (plastic housing) versions. In the Cat. 6A EL4.0 line, metal fibers embedded in the plastic housing help reduce alien crosstalk and improve signal integrity.
The EL4.0 family covers all typical requirements for building, office, and IT networks up to 10 Gigabit Ethernet, while the ISO?rated module range adds extra system margin and supports transmission speeds of up to 40 Gbit/s.
For deeper technical background, R&M’s specialist magazine series CONNECTIONS provides in?depth articles. The next issue, launching in April, includes additional insights into RJ45 harmonization and the evolution of connectivity from Category 5e up to Category 8.1, a journey R&M has helped shape since the 1990s. The R&M YouTube channel shows how to install the RJ45 modules.
