Ambiq Micro has introduced soundKIT, the fourth addition to its open-source AI Development Kit (ADK) lineup. It is engineered to accelerate the adoption of always-on, real-time audio and speech intelligence at the edge.

Tailored for Ambiq’s ultra-low-power SoCs, soundKIT empowers developers and AI teams to design, test, and deploy production-ready audio AI features such as voice activity detection, keyword spotting, speech enhancement, and speaker identification all while meeting the demanding power, latency, and reliability needs of embedded environments.
Unlike traditional “model zoo” toolkits, the new open-source AI Development Kit offers:
- A modular, open-source framework for end-to-end commercial development,
- Coveris data preparation, training, evaluation, export, and real-time demos,
- Teams can prototype on PCs and validate on Ambiq’s evaluation boards using identical configurations,
- Enables earlier, hardware-aware decisions that reduce risk and speed up time-to-market.
Built for versatility, soundKIT supports a growing range of edge applications from smart home and wearable devices to automotive, healthcare, and industrial systems where low latency, long battery life, and offline operation are critical.
Developers can configure pipelines for common embedded audio AI tasks and run real-time demonstrations directly on PC or Ambiq’s hardware platforms.
With its flexible, bring-your-own-data approach and seamless integration with Ambiq’s ultra-low-power SoCs, soundKIT gives innovators everything they need to bring efficient, intelligent audio experiences to life at the edge.
Leadership Comments
“Always-on audio is quickly becoming a defining capability for edge devices, but power, latency, and cloud dependence have held manufacturers back,” said Scott Hanson, CTO of Ambiq. “soundKIT removes those barriers by giving teams a direct path from experimentation to deployment on ultra-low-power hardware, accelerating adoption of on-device audio AI at scale.”
