ANRITSU CORPORATION has introduced a new RF hardware option for its Radio Communication Test Station MT8000A, adding support for the crucial FR3 (Frequency Range 3) band targeted for next?generation 6G mobile networks.

This enhancement means the MT8000A can now be used across the full lifecycle of advanced wireless technologies from early R&D to final commercialization—for 4G, 5G, and upcoming 6G/FR3 devices.
The company plans to demonstrate the new capability at MWC Barcelona 2026, the flagship global event for mobile communications, taking place in Barcelona, Spain, from March 2–5, 2026.
As 6G aims to deliver far higher speeds, much lower latency, and greatly improved safety and reliability compared to 5G, international standardization work is moving quickly toward commercial rollout.
To achieve the required high-capacity data transmission and broad coverage, 6G is expected to rely heavily on the FR3 band (7.125–24.25 GHz).
The lower portion of FR3, up to 16 GHz and directly extending from the upper end of FR1 (7.125 GHz), is already slated for discussion at the World Radiocommunication Conference in 2027 (WRC?27).
Building on its long track record in wireless test and measurement, Anritsu has positioned the MT8000A as a highly scalable platform with this new RF option for the lower FR3 band, bridging today’s 4G/5G requirements and tomorrow’s 6G needs.
Future 6G features are planned to be enabled via seamless software upgrades, helping device makers accelerate development and time?to?market for next?generation 6G products.
Development Background
The FR3 frequency band plays a pivotal role in making 6G devices a reality, so existing 4G/5G test gear built for FR1 and FR2 bands needs hardware upgrades to keep pace.
FR3 also demands specialized RF testing, as its connectivity and signal quality traits differ significantly from traditional FR1/FR2 setups.
On top of that, FR3-capable testers will be critical for 6G protocol checks (ensuring solid network links) and full functional evaluations (gauging real-world service and app performance).
All this is fueling demand for versatile, high-performance platforms like the MT8000A, which scales effortlessly across today’s 4G/5G gear and tomorrow’s multi-mode 4G/5G/6G devices.
Product Overview and Features
The MT8000A Radio Communication Test Station already handles a broad lineup of 3GPP-compliant tests covering RF, protocol, and functional checks for 4G/5G device development.
With this groundbreaking new RF hardware option unlocking 6G and Lower FR3 bands, Anritsu’s MT8000A becomes a future-proof investment, delivering long-term value and cost savings for next-gen 6G/FR3 projects.
Anritsu’s roadmap of software upgrades for emerging 6G/FR3 capabilities on the MT8000A will keep pushing wireless innovation forward, building toward a more reliable, secure, and connected world.
