New AHV85003/AHV85043 chipset joins the flagship AHV85311 integrated solution with industry’s first complete family of noise-eliminating, self-powered SiC gate drivers.

With the release of the AHV85003/AHV85043 chipset, Allegro MicroSystems announced the strategic expansion of their Power-Thru isolated gate driver portfolio.
This expanded family is said to complete the ecosystem for high-voltage silicon carbide (SiC) designs in AI data centers, electric vehicles (EVs), and clean energy systems by joining the flagship AHV85311 integrated solution.
By eliminating the requirement for external isolated bias supplies for gate drivers, the solution simplifies the power conversion design challenges.
The innovation addresses the critical challenge of attaining maximum power density, particularly in demanding 800V systems, by delivering the industry’s smallest solution footprint while lowering the bill of materials (BOM).
Power and signal are integrated over a single isolation barrier by Allegro’s Power-Thru isolated gate drivers. This new approach addresses a major source of noise that affects efficiency by reducing the system’s common-mode capacitance by up to 15x.
They boost electromagnetic interference (EMI) performance by up to 20dB, increasing system efficiency and saving designers numerous hours spent fixing noise issues.
The enhanced Power-Thru portfolio is designed to address important business challenges in addition to the physics of noise. Both the existing AHV85311 integrated solution and the new AHV85003/AHV85043 chipset offer a multi-source SiC strategy to guarantee supply chain resilience.
Designers may simply swap between SiC FETs from various vendors without having to redesign their boards because to their adjustable regulated negative voltage and selectable gate-to-source voltages (Vgs) of 15V, 18V, and 20V.
Additionally, there are now two different implementation paths available in the portfolio. The isolation transformer is part of the flagship AHV85311 integrated solution, which offers a all-in-one route for accelerating time-to-market.
The versatile new AHV85003/AHV85043 chipset gives designers the ability to choose an external transformer that best suits their unique isolation requirements while also optimizing for cost and layout.
