ROHM-Tata Electronics Ignite India’s Power Chip Boom, Pacts Deal!

A strategic cooperation for semiconductor manufacturing in India for both domestic and international markets has been launched by ROHM and Tata Electronics.

Semiconductor manufacturing pact by ROHM, Tata Electronics
From lL-R: Sumihiro Takashima (Executive Officer, Director of Marketing Headquarters at ROHM), Dr. Kazuhide Ino (Member of the Board, Managing Executive Officer, in charge of Power Devices Business at ROHM), Steve Ghanayem (President, US Operations, Head of Global Sales at Tata Electronics)

The objective of this partnership is to further strengthen the relationship between the semiconductor industries of Japan and India by utilizing the ecosystem and experience of both companies to increase opportunities for ROHM and Tata Electronics.

Initially, ROHM and Tata Electronics will combine ROHM’s innovative device technology with Tata Electronics’ advanced backend technologies to develop a production framework for power semiconductors in India. Additionally, the alliance will bring higher-value solutions to a variety of customers and open up new business opportunities in the Indian market by combining the networks and sales channels.

Tata Electronics will assemble and test ROHM’s India-designed automotive-grade Nch 100V, 300A Si MOSFET in a TOLL package as the initial phase of this partnership, with the goal of mass production shipments by the following year.

In the future, the companies plan to explore joint development of high-value packaging technologies. Both companies will work together to market the products manufactured as a result of this partnership.

The partnership embodies both the “Designed in India, Manufactured in India” idea and the Government of India’s “Make in India” vision. By establishing an ecosystem that encompasses design, development, and manufacturing all within India, the ROHM–TATA collaboration represents a significant step toward providing value to customers in the Indian market.

The collaboration allows for a steady supply of products tailored to the Indian market and enhance Domestic Value Addition.
