Pickering Electronics receive the Passive/Electromechanical Product of the Year award at this year’s esteemed electronics industry Elektra Awards for its ultra-high-density Series 125 reed relays. The industry’s smallest 2 Form A DPST (double-pole, single-throw) reed relay is offered by Series 125, which debuted at electronica 2024.

To give more switching options, 1 Form A, 1 Form B, 1 Form C, and 1 Form A coaxial variants were added during productronica 2025. The Series 125 stacks on a compact 5mm x 5 mm pitch and switches up to 1 amp, 20 watts, using 3, 5, or 12 volt coils. The relays perform well in mixed-signal environments because of instrumentation-grade switches, which provide low contact resistance and strong insulation resistance.
The Elektra Awards recognize and celebrate the exceptional innovation, leadership, and achievements shaping the electronics sector today. A judging panel of key industry figures carefully reviews the submissions, deliberates in panels, and selects the winners through a rigorous judging process.
Judges said this product offers significant space savings and enhanced reliability for automated test equipment—with the entry making a clear case as to what sets this device apart.
Series 125 has also been shortlisted in EPDT’s Products of the Year, while at this year’s Instrumentation & Electronics Awards, Pickering’s Microwave Switch Design Tool was shortlisted for Test, Measurement & Inspection Product of the Year.
Pickering’s reputation for reed relay innovation is founded on decades of manufacturing excellence. All relays use instrumentation-grade reed switches for stable, long-life operation—up to billions of cycles—along with formerless coil construction and the company’s patented SoftCenter technology, which improves mechanical robustness.
Mu-metal screening enables high packing densities with minimal magnetic interference, and every relay is 100% tested, including dynamic contact wave-shape analysis, to ensure consistent quality.
Leadership Comments
“Series 125’s ultra-high-density form factor is designed so that engineers no longer need to compromise between performance and space—making it ideal for those who need to maximise PCB real estate in applications like ATE (automated test equipment) switching matrices or multiplexers,” said Robert King, Reed Relays Product Manager at Pickering Electronics. “Already offering the world’s smallest dual-pole reed relay footprint, our expanded Series 125 has now added 1 Form A, 1 Form B, 1 Form C, and 1 Form A coaxial options, enabling record channel density and greater routing flexibility on space-constrained cards.”
