At the RE100 Leadership Awards 2025, which are presented by RE100, Murata Manufacturing was given the “RE100 enterprising leader” honor. In order to honor corporate leadership in climate action and initiatives to hasten the shift to 100% renewable energy, the RE100 Leadership Awards were established in 2020.
In 2024, Murata moved their objective achievement date ahead by 15 years, from fiscal 2050 to fiscal 2035, after joining RE100 in 2020.
We have gradually increased our use of renewable energy by installing solar power systems at company locations, utilizing renewable energy efficiently by combining Murata’s proprietary storage batteries with the renewable energy control solution “efinnos,” and growing renewable energy contracts and Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).
At four locations in Japan and two abroad, we have so far produced all of our electricity from renewable sources. Additionally, we are pursuing a diversified procurement strategy while diversifying risks and reducing prices by investigating alternative energy sources beyond solar, such as wind and geothermal.
The title of “RE100 enterprising leader,” which Murata was awarded, honors the variety of RE100 members by highlighting those from local markets or smaller businesses who are going above and beyond to meet their RE100 goal.
In addition to these efforts, we have put in place an internal carbon pricing scheme to promote the growth of renewable energy in the organization. Through policy advocacy initiatives with JCLP, we are also actively collaborating with the Japanese government to advance climate change policies.
As we strive to build a decarbonized society, Murata will keep pushing projects to boost the use of renewable energy, noted its official press release.
