In the SOT-23 packaging, Vishay Intertechnology unveiled two new series of Automotive Grade ESD protection diodes, ranging from 3.3 V to 36 V. Higher peak pulse power ratings up to 540 W and current ratings up to 44 A at an 8/20 µs pulse are made possible by the more robust design of the single-line VGSOTx and two-line VGSOTxC series, which offer low thermal resistance and more effective heat dissipation than the previous generation GSOTxx / xxC devices.
The Vishay Semiconductors devices that were introduced are perfect for a variety of applications due to their strong power and current capabilities.
These will be utilized in consumer appliances, entertainment, and healthcare devices; fixed and mobile telecom infrastructure; medical instrumentation; industrial automation systems, motor drives, and power tools; automobile electronics and controls, fuel cells, and smart systems; energy monitoring and metering systems; and military electronic warfare systems.
Both devices in the VGSOTxx and VGSOTxxC series are suitable for unidirectional ESD protection. The components of the VGSOTxxC series can also function as bidirectional devices due to their dual, common anode layout.
Their dual diodes can be used in parallel to double their reverse leakage current, line capacitance, and surge power ratings if more power is required.
The VGSOTxx and VGSOTxxC series automotive Grade ESD protection diodes are Vishay Green, halogen-free, RoHS-compliant, and offer ESD immunity in compliance with ISO 10605 (± 30 kV air and contact discharge) and IEC 61000-4-2, as well as the AEC-Q101 human body model: class H3B (> 8 kV).
The devices, which come in AEC-Q101 approved variants, offer straightforward drop-in replacements for Vishay’s earlier generation GSOT diodes and rival SOT series devices. Additionally, these new products meet Vishay Automotive Grade standards, which guarantee consistently outstanding quality at the highest level.
