Cirrus Logic, GF to Advance Next-Gen Mixed-Signal Semiconductor Mfg

The long-standing partnership between Cirrus Logic and GlobalFoundries (GF) has been expanded. The goal of these collaborative development initiatives is to hasten the release of chip technologies that are more reliable, powerful, and efficient. These technologies will power the upcoming generation of everyday devices, such as smartphones and automobiles.

The companies are working together to advance the development and commercialization of next-generation BCD (Bipolar-CMOS-DMOS) process technology, which enables the combination of several functions on a single chip, resulting in smaller and more power-efficient devices.

In order to complement existing manufacturing in Singapore and Germany, this technology will be able to be produced at GlobalFoundries’ site in Malta, New York.

It is anticipated that the expanded partnership will reinforce Cirrus Logic’s dedication toCirrus Logic, GF BCD Process Tech for GaN Technology providing its core markets with state-of-the-art mixed-signal devices while bolstering the robustness and regional diversity of its clients’ semiconductor supply chains.

Utilizing GF’s specialized manufacturing facilities in Essex Junction, Vermont, Cirrus Logic and GF are also working together to accelerate innovation in Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology. For consumer and industrial applications, GF’s GaN-on-silicon technology provides efficiency and power management advantages due to its high power density and high voltage handling capabilities.

It is anticipated that this collaboration would broaden Cirrus Logic’s power and mixed-signal technology portfolio, opening up new possibilities and markets.
