The partnership will create a single, cutting-edge mobile solution by combining Honeywell’s SwiftDecoder software, which reads barcode data and other written information, with Stereolabs’ stereoscopic cameras, which measure product dimensions using a vision-based artificial intelligence perception system.
In order to speed up deliveries and save shipping expenses, Honeywell and Stereolabs announced their partnership to develop a new mobile solution that can swiftly and precisely measure the weight, volume, and dimension of boxes and pallets in a distribution center enabling seamless warehouse management.
The partnership will create a single, cutting-edge mobile solution by combining Honeywell’s SwiftDecoder software, which reads barcode data and other written information, with Stereolabs’ stereoscopic cameras, which measure product dimensions using a vision-based artificial intelligence perception system.
Logistics operators will be able to more efficiently arrange truck loading, determine how many trucks are required to deliver goods, and track the items being carried with this.
To obtain vital weight and dimension data, the new joint solution combines Honeywell’s SwiftDecoder barcode-decoding software with the Stereolabs ZED stereoscopic camera and calculator.
After that, information is instantly transferred to a central database, which enables a company to determine the most economical and effective method of loading, transporting, or destocking items by understanding the amount and makeup of the boxes and pallets carried in each trailer in real time.
Many warehouses and logistics companies now work by hand; some use weigh scales and tape measures to measure the weight and dimensions of products before shipping them.
Others measure and identify every box and package passing via a conveyor belt using scan tunnels or stationary equipment.
The mobile solution from Honeywell and Stereolabs will now enable more flexible everyday operations in distribution centers, in contrast to these frequently ineffective procedures.
Leadership Comments
“Products stored in a warehouse and transported on a truck contain a wealth of data, from weight and size to the item’s name, expiration date and warning label on the box,” said David Barker, President of Honeywell Productivity Solutions and Services. “Finding a way to capture this data in one place and use it effectively to streamline processes presents a challenge for many operations. By combining the strengths of Honeywell and Stereolabs, we can help the supply chain operate more efficiently and address major pain points.”
“Integrating Honeywell’s SwiftDecoder software together with our ZED cameras and advanced perception stack was a smooth and efficient process,” said Olivier Braun, Chief Product Officer at Stereolabs. “We are now able to deliver a rich, all-in-one data capture solution—combining product dimensions, barcode data, optical character recognition (OCR) information and high-quality imagery—that is seamlessly ready for integration into any warehouse management system.”
