Murata 3-Axis Accelerometer Delivers Precision Performance

For the industrial market, Murata Manufacturing has unveiled a 3-axis accelerometer that boasts outstanding resilience, low noise density, exceptional linearity, and great offset stability across time and temperature.Murata 3-axis accelerometer SCA3400-D01 with Machine Control the volt post

Applications for the SCA3400-D01 XYZ accelerometer include machine control, inertial measuring devices, construction tools and systems, and structural health monitoring (SHM). From June 24 to 26, 2025, this product will be on display at Sensors Converge 2025, which will take place at the Santa Clara Convention Center (Booth #716) in California.

The consistency of an accelerometer’s output when it is at rest but exposed to different temperatures or the effects of ageing is known as offset stability. Although this output should ideally be zero, it is frequently not, therefore equipment manufacturers must adjust their designs to take this into consideration.

The accuracy of the sensor’s readings increases with offset stability. Additionally, rather than relying on users to recalibrate frequently to preserve accuracy, equipment manufacturers may calibrate their designs for the product’s lifetime thanks to high offset stability.

The offset drift over lifespan for the 3-axis accelerometer  SCA3400-D01 is 2 mg for the Z axis and 0.5 mg for the X and Y axes. Changing its operating temperature results in an offset inaccuracy of 2 mg on the X and Y axes and 3 mg on the Z axis.

The precision performance of the Murata SCA3400-D01 is outstanding. It has a noise density of 20 µg/?Hz and a linearity error figure of 1 mg across a 1.2 g range, which help to make measurements more accurate.

The 3-axis accelerometer user-selectable dynamic range and low-pass filtering are additional features that should appeal to manufacturers of industrial equipment. These features allow designers to customize the part for the optimal mix of resolution, linearity, and noise performance for the application.

Additionally, the component contains self-diagnostic capabilities that allow it to determine the reliability of a measured signal.Murata 3-axis accelerometer SCA3400-D01 with Machine Control the volt post

Murata’s Well-Proven 3D MEMS Technology

Built on the most recent version of Murata’s well-proven 3D MEMS technology, the SCA3400-D01 (8.6 × 7.6 × 3.3 mm; 0.34″ × 0.30″ × 0.13″) makes use of the company’s most recent ASIC design and procedures. It will be offered in reels with 100 or 1,000 pieces, sample bags of four parts, and single parts on an evaluation PCB.
