Silicon Labs, Wirepas’ Ships 10Mn Wireless SoCs Powering India and Beyond

With the Silicon Labs sub-GHz FG23 SoC, Silicon Labs and Wirepas stated that they had shipped 10 million wireless SoCs running Wirepas’ RF mesh connectivity software, mostly in the Indian market. Some of the biggest and most demanding industrial mesh networks in the world, spanning industries including building automation, industrial monitoring, emergency lighting, and smart electricity metering, are powered by these chips.Silicon Labs, Wirepas 10 million wireless SoCs shipped the volt post

Strong, incredibly resilient, and massively scalable IoT networks that satisfy the size, security, and reliability requirements of industrial-grade applications are made possible by the two companies’ long-standing partnership.

This accomplishment attests to the fact that their collaborative solution is not only technically solid but also mass-proven and prepared to serve as the digital foundation of the world’s infrastructure.

In order to help India achieve the objectives of its Advanced Metering Initiative, Silicon Labs and Wirepas announced in December 2024 that four million smart power meters with Wirepas Mesh software had been installed in the nation utilizing the sub-GHz FG13 and FG23 platforms.

India’s ambitious grid modernization and electrification goals are made possible by the solution, which offers reliable, affordable connectivity across complicated, crowded surroundings.

Another notable example is Norway, where over a million smart meters with comparable equipment are linked together in a single decentralized mesh network—one of the biggest of its kind globally.

These kinds of implementations show that strong, self-healing mesh connectivity can now sustain infrastructure at the national level, establishing the foundation for more intelligent, effective, and sustainable infrastructure that drives cities and businesses.

Other market sectors are also expanding; some, like the emergency lighting industry, are seeing extremely high adoption rates.
