SiAT Expands SWCNT Capacity with Zeon – An Inevitable Material for EV Battery

Zeon Corporation (Zeon) and Sino Applied Technology (SiAT) announce a strategic cooperation in Taoyuan, Taiwan. As part of this agreement, Zeon will lead a $20 million USD Series C fundraising round in SiAT to help expand the company’s production capacity for single-walled carbon nanotube – SWCNT conductive paste, a vital nanomaterial for next-generation battery technology.Zeon, SiAT SWCNT conductive paste for EV battery the volt post

The global need for lithium-ion batteries is increasing in both consumer applications—such as electric vehicles, drones, and EVTOL aircraft—and industrial areas, including AI server BBUs, renewable energy ESS, and automated robotics. This expansion has increased the need for SWCNTs, which can greatly improve battery energy density and cycle life.

Dispersion is yet another significant barrier to SWCNT implementation. SWCNTs tend to bundle and disperse poorly in both aqueous and non-aqueous fluids, hindering their homogeneous incorporation into electrode slurries during battery manufacture.

The SiAT team, with over 20 years of experience in battery nanomaterials, provides exclusive know-how to this collaboration, allowing for even dispersion of SWCNTs into a stable conductive paste solution designed for battery electrodes.

Zeon and SiAT have successfully partnered since 2024 to create well-dispersed SWCNT conductive pastes, LSC2102 (NMP-based) and LSC1101 (water-based).
