Tata Electronics is making significant strides in the semiconductor sector. The company plans to establish a large-scale semiconductor fabrication plant in Dholera, Gujarat, with an investment of INR91,000 crore.

This state-of-the-art, AI-enabled 300mm (12-inch) Fab will have a manufacturing capacity of up to 50,000 wafers per month, producing chips for applications in automotive, computing, data storage, wireless communication, and artificial intelligence.

In addition to the Dholera Fab, Tata Electronics is developing a semiconductor assembly and testing facility in Jagiroad, Assam, with an investment of INR27,000 crore. This facility is expected to commence high-volume production by mid-2025, focusing on technologies such as wire bond, flip chip, and Integrated Systems Packaging (ISP).

Furthermore, Tata Electronics has entered into strategic partnerships to bolster its semiconductor capabilities. In September 2024, the company signed a memorandum of understanding with Tokyo Electron Limited (TEL) to collaborate on accelerating semiconductor equipment infrastructure for its facilities in Gujarat and Assam.

This partnership aims to leverage TEL’s expertise to support the timely execution of Tata Electronics’ semiconductor projects.
