SGS Modernizes Foreign Trade Procedures in Morocco

The new electronic service is the outcome of a partnership between PortNet, which encourages digitization in the port and maritime communities, and Morocco’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce.SGS PortNet manages Moroccan CoCs, centralizes CoCs

In order to expedite processing times and enhance the effectiveness and openness of business operations, the service, which is dedicated to managing Moroccan Certificates of Conformity (CoCs), centralizes all requests for CoCs along with the required licenses and registrations.

The program, which is available through the National Single Window for Foreign Trade Procedures, is a component of a national initiative to streamline and update foreign trade processes.

Program objectives and benefits

The program allows users to submit and track their CoCs requests online to improve transparency and efficiency. The main benefits of this program include:

  • Time-savings: Digitization reduces the processing time for requests
  • Error reduction: Online forms minimize input errors and omissions
  • Accessibility: Users can access the system at any time and from anywhere, making certificate management easier

The changes brought about by the new certificate management program on PortNet have a significant impact on inspection bodies.

Primary changes include:

  • System integration: Inspection bodies are now directly integrated into the PortNet Single Window, allowing for smoother and faster communication with other stakeholders, thereby facilitating the processing of certificate requests
  • Process digitization: The submission and processing of certificate requests are now fully online. Inspection bodies must therefore adapt their internal procedures to align with this new digital mode of operation
  • Tracking and traceability: Inspection bodies can track the status of certificate requests in real time, improving transparency the traceability of inspection and certification processes
  • Collaboration: Closer collaboration with customs and port authorities is necessary to ensure that goods comply with international and national standards. Inspection bodies must therefore strengthen their relationships with these authoritiesSGS PortNet manages Moroccan CoCs, centralizes CoCs
