Family of Optically Isolated Differential Probes by Keysight

A family of optically isolated differential probes has been created by Keysight Technologies to improve the effectiveness and performance testing of fast-switching devices, including wide bandgap GaN and SiC semiconductors. Along with Keysight’s MXR B and HD3 series oscilloscopes, the new voltage probes will be on show at the Applied Power Electronics Conference (APEC) 2025 in Keysight’s booth (#829).Keysight optically isolated differential probes HD3 Series

Small differential signals riding on high common-mode voltages must be measured in order to validate floating half-bridge and full-bridge topologies, which are frequently used in power conversion, motor drives, and inverters.

Noise interference, safety issues, and variations in the voltage source in relation to ground can make this measurement difficult.

Because optically isolated differential probes are galvanically isolated and reject common-mode voltages, power electronics engineers can safely and precisely measure floating circuits in noisy, high-voltage settings. For high-voltage applications such as solar energy, battery management systems, electric vehicles (EVs), and more, this technology will propel advancements in efficiency and switching loss testing.

The isolated differential probes from Keysight are perfect for high-voltage, high-side tests because they offer up to 10 billion times more common-mode rejection than conventional differential probes.

With a bandwidth of up to 1 GHz and a differential voltage range of ±2,500 V, these probes provide precise examination of GaN and SiC devices that switch quickly.
