Announcing its inclusion on the 2024 Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) World and Emerging Markets, ASE Technology Holding was honored for its outstanding ESG performance. The DJSI is a weighted index of market capitalization adjusted by float that evaluates the performance of businesses chosen based on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors.
Only eight, including ASE, were selected from among the 71 large-cap firms evaluated this year by the Semiconductors and Semiconductor Equipment Industry Group for inclusion in the 2024 DJSI World. ASE has been on the list for the ninth year in a row.
As a well-known player in semiconductor production worldwide, ASE is committed to building a strong company with the highest standards of sustainability development.
We take pride in the fact that both domestic and foreign sustainability rating organizations have appropriately acknowledged our ESG performance.
Since 2016, ASE has been listed on the CDP’s yearly list for Climate Leadership for eight years in addition to the DJSI ranking. For businesses, cities, states, and regions, the CDP is a non-profit that offers environmental disclosure guidelines, mentioned in its official release.
Additionally, semiconductor packaging, test, and system assembly services major has an A grade on the MSCI ESG Ratings and is included in the FTSE4Good Emerging Index. As part of Taiwan’s TAIEX Sustainability Index, ASE has won 17 accolades this year, including the Commonwealth Magazine Corporate Citizenship accolades and the TCSA (Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards) Top 10 Sustainable Manufacturing Companies affirms its official release.
Our Low Carbon Mission
The semiconductor packaging, test, and system assembly services company commits to reaching net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 in response to the urgent need for climate action.
We have taken a thorough, scientifically grounded approach in line with the suggestions of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTI) in order to achieve this challenging objective.
We have taken proactive measures, such as investing in carbon credits, accelerating the adoption of renewable energy, developing green products and low-carbon transportation, and boosting supplier chain involvement.
At the moment, 12 of our manufacturing facilities worldwide are RE100 certified, and 84% of them use renewable energy.
Towards a Circular Economy
In support of the United Nations’ “Global Plastic Treaty” that seeks to reduce the use of plastic and minimize the environmental impact of plastic waste, ASE Kaohsiung established the “Plastic Recycling Center” in 2022. The center is focused on transforming waste plastic into products. Within a short span of a year, we managed to increase the product conversion rate from 40% to 91% in 2023.
Value Co-creation
ASE collaborates closely with our suppliers in an effort to build meaningful and sustainable relationships in our journey towards net zero.
We regularly conduct carbon footprint assessments across our supply chain to identify any carbon hotspots within the suppliers’ operations and to develop reduction plans where needed.
In 2023, we presented Supplier Sustainability Awards to selected suppliers as a recognition of their outstanding performance.
The award program serves as a communication platform for us to encourage suppliers to innovate and explore ways to collaborate with ASE on sustainability development, advancing the creation of a net zero ecosystem.
Social Inclusion and Community Engagement
A national competition with themes of energy saving, low carbon, social welfare, and environmental protection was hosted by ASE in 2023. Three teams were chosen because they were able to propose ideas that addressed social challenges in addition to having unique economic approaches.
The teams received opportunities to collaborate with ASE in growing their business operations in addition to a financial incentive. We also keep investing our efforts in the “LED lighting for schools” project and tree planting campaigns.
In order to determine the company’s dependence on, influence on, dangers, and opportunities for nature, as well as to develop strategies that align with these factors, we have also implemented the TNFD-LEAP framework.
Our “Climate and Environmental Report” is published in accordance with the TNFD and TCFD standards that allow us to accurately disclose the company’s actions on climate change and biodiversity to all our stakeholders confirmed the company’s official release.
