With Tenstorrent, BOS Semiconductors Pins Low-Power AI SoC for Automotive

Using intellectual property from US firm Tenstorrent, Korean company BOS Semiconductors created the first RISC-V AI accelerator chiplet named Eagle-N chiplet in the industry.Tenstorrent Tensix NPU Core BOS RISC-V AI Eagle-N Chiplet the volt post

The two companies collaborated to create the Eagle-N chiplet, which has a Tenstorrent Tensix NPU core and is designed for automotive applications such In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) domain computing systems and Automotive Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

The Tensix Core has a Network-on-Chip (NoC) to transfer data between cores and chips, five “baby RISC-V” processors to assist in guiding the NoC, a SIMD unit for vector operations, an array math unit for tensor calculations, and up to 1.5MB of SRAM.

This offers PCIe gen5 and UCIe high-speed interfaces, as well as up to 250TOPS NPU performance, to enable the development of an add-on NPU and AI subsystem for autonomous driving and immersive in-cabin experiences.

Eagle-N can be connected to any ADAS or IVI processor on the market, allowing OEMs and Tier-1s to easily integrate Eagle-N on top of their current ADAS or IVI domain computing system to improve its AI performance.

Apart from Eagle-N, BOS is also working on Eagle-A, a one-chip ADAS SoC that can be used in tandem with Eagle-N. The ADAS chiplet SoC family Eagle-N and Eagle-A supports different ADAS and autonomous driving functions.
