Kyocera AVX New IDC Splice Connectors Series For Durable Splice Connections the Volt postThe new 9179-000 Series IDC Splice Connectors from KYOCERA AVX are unique from traditional splicing solutions because of their many characteristics.

Insulation displacement contact (IDC) technology, which is used in the new 9179-000 Series IDC Splice Connectors, is a more effective, cost-effective, robust, reliable, and long-lasting connection method than the hand crimp and solder technology.

IDC connectors save time and money since they don’t require users to strip wires before termination and are simple and quick to terminate without the need for specialized tooling. They create gas-tight, cold-welded connections and have undergone testing and proven to be resilient to standard shock, vibration, and temperature cycling.

Additionally, the series is compatible with potting processes, which can improve its resistance to aging, moisture, corrosive agents, shock, and vibration. Additionally, potting process essentially remove the need for and expense of maintenance and repair compared to traditional splice connectors.

Flexibility is another benefit of the new 9179-000 Series IDC Splice Connectors. The small form factor of these connectors allows them to fit in areas where other solutions cannot.

They measure only 8.0 x 7.8 x 7.2 mm when terminated. Additionally, they facilitate straightforward in-field installation, accept both solid and stranded wires, and, in contrast to rival inline-only solutions, allow wire input from one or both sides.

They also accommodate a mixed mixture of wire gauges ranging from 18 to 24AWG.

The New KYOCERA AVX Series IDC Splice Connectors Features:

  • Are rated for up at 13A per contact, 300VACRMSor the DC equivalent, and operating temperatures extending from -40°C to +125°C.
  • They feature white, UL94 V-0 glass-filled thermoplastic housings with wire entry diameters etched into the top, lead-free, tin-over-nickel-plated phosphor bronze contacts, and housing caps with wire gauge measurements etched into the top and colors that correspond to various combinations of wire gauges.
