IIT Delhi hosted the inaugural IISF, a remarkable celebration of science society involvement that was started in 2015. This science festival was conceived by the Indian science organization Vijnana Bharati. This festival will be observed for the first time in North East India.

Thousands of people gather each year to promote scientific collaboration, stimulate young minds, and advance economic growth through scientific methods, making the India International Science Festival the nation’s largest science event to date.

In 2024, IISF will take place at Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati in Assam from November 30 to December 4. “Transforming India into an S&T driven Global Manufacturing Hub” is the subject for the tenth edition of IISF. It represents the government’s goal of combining industrial development with science and technology to establish India as a worldwide manufacturing leader.

Thematic Events of IISF-2024

IISF offers a range of topics designed to engage both scientists and laypeople in a variety of scientific conversations and activities. Because the subjects have been chosen with the needs of different stakeholders in mind, everyone has the opportunity to participate and learn about scientific techniques. A brief description of each of the new themes that IISF has established in response to the needs of Northeast India is provided here.

The first special event of IISF 2024 is called “Chandrayaan – The Museum of the Moon,” where a model created by British artist Dr. Luke Jerram will be displayed among guests to honor India’s achievements with the Chandrayaan Mission. The model, which is a seven-meter-diameter duplicate of the moon, will display realistic footage of the lunar surface where Chandrayaan touched down on August 23, 2023.
