Infineon AURIX, ETAS ESCRYPT CycurHSM for SDV Security

In cooperation with ETAS, an automotive software vendor, Infineon Technologies has included the ESCRYPT CycurHSM 3.x Automotive Security Software Stack into the AURIX TC4X Cybersecurity Real-time Module (CSRM). The goal of this next-generation solution bundle from ETAS and Infineon is to maximize functionality, performance, and security.Infineon AURIX, ETAS ESCRYPT CycurHSM for SDV Security

The automobile industry’s shift to new E/E architectures and software-defined cars is driving up need for strong cybersecurity solutions and high-performance technology.

“One of the strengths of our AURIX offering is the deep level of integration of our partners’ software solutions,” said Thomas Schneid, Senior Director Software, Partnership and Ecosystem Management at Infineon Technologies. “We are therefore delighted to deepen our partnership with ETAS even further in order to advance the development of software-defined vehicles.”

“We are excited to open a new chapter in our long and successful collaboration with Infineon,” said Rohan Pandit, Product Manager Onboard Security at ETAS. “The integration of the latest version of ESCRYPT CycurHSM with the AURIX microcontroller family will enable software-defined vehicles to meet increasing performance requirements while providing robust security.”

The most recent version of the ISO/SAE 21434 cybersecurity standard is compatible with the AURIX TC4x series.

Post-quantum cryptography is supported and performance limitations are removed by the security paradigm. A Cybersecurity Satellite (CSS) and a Cybersecurity Real-time Module (CSRM) with dedicated memory are part of the controller family. When used in combination with ESCRYPT CycurHSM 3.x, the CSS offers accelerators for cryptographic services that may be processed in parallel and greatly increase throughput.

Furthermore, the ability to configure numerous virtual instances for concurrent program execution is made possible by virtualization support. This feature allows separate dynamic updates and customizable boot-up procedures for every virtual instance in ESCRYPT CycurHSM 3.x. Different security applications can be enabled by assigning distinct ASIL levels to each virtual instance and granularly configuring access control.

Availability

The first device of the new Infineon TC4X series is already secured with ESCRYPT CycurHSM 3.x. The hardware compatibility of CSRM and CSS enables a smooth porting of ESCRYPT CycurHSM 3.x to other derivatives of the TC4X family, depending on market requirements and device availability.
