The Cross-Israel Highway, one of the busiest travel routes in Israel, has upgraded its “ON” charging station at Dor-Alon Station with the successful implementation of ZOOZ POWER’s ground-breaking Power Boosting technology.
The enhanced site is the result of a productive partnership between ZOOZ Power and the “ON” charging network, which is Israel’s top ultra-fast charging network and is run by Afcon Electric Transportation, a top CPO, and Dor-Alon, a top gas station network operator.
The goal of this coordinated effort is to overcome the constraints imposed by the local energy grid in order to better serve EV vehicles on this important route and meet the increasing demand for ultra-fast charging capabilities, affirmed its official release.
Based on the ZOOZTERTM-100 Power Booster and ZOOZ’s exclusive Energy Management System (EMS), ZOOZ’s inventive solution aims to empower “ON” to offer improved on-site charging services by upgrading the previous configuration—which consisted of one ultra-fast charger and two fast chargers—to four ultra-fast (150kW) chargers that support eight charging ports. ZOOZ’s solution does this by boosting the grid and controlling the chargers’ power.
“This is a significant milestone in facilitating fast-charging services to the Israeli EV drivers, and improving their driving experience and, as a result of that, helping EV adoption vision to become a reality” said Avi Cohen, ZOOZ Power Executive Chairman. “Together with Dor Alon and Afcon, we provided a cutting-edge solution showing that our technology allows to accelerate the deployment of EV charging infrastructure with multiple ultra-fast charging ports, while smartly utilizing the limited grid available on site, enabling growth of utilization and empowering charging stations profitability more rapidly and efficiently.”
Following the success of a pilot project in which the parties created an ultra-fast charging site at the Dor-Alon station “Mall-Zichron” in Israel, which has been operationally operating commercially since January 2023, this is another stage in the partnership between the parties. The project’s operational success created the foundation for the partnership’s expansion to include “ON” charging stations throughout Israel’s primary transportation corridor.
The parties want to improve an additional “ON” site on Route 6, the Cross-Israel Highway, and put ZOOZ’s idea into practice. It is anticipated that this second enhanced charging station, located in the southern section of the route, will open in the second quarter of 2024.
