Yotta Completes BHASHINI’s Full Migration to India’s Sovereign AI Cloud

Yotta Data Services has announced the successful completion of BHASHINI’s end-to-end Sovereign AI Cloud transformation, fully deployed on Yotta’s Government Community Cloud (GCC) and Shakti Cloud infrastructure. This milestone is stated as a transformative step in India’s pursuit of self-reliant, secure, and scalable AI capabilities, closely aligned with the IndiaAI Mission.

With this deployment, BHASHINI, India’s national language translation and AI platform now operates entirely on domestically hosted cloud and GPU infrastructure. This ensures that all language datasets, AI models, and citizen interactions are securely processed and stored within Indian jurisdiction, reinforcing India’s digital sovereignty.

The achievement was showcased at “The India AI Sovereignty Dialogues,” an official pre-summit event of the AI Impact Summit 2026, jointly hosted by Yotta and Digital India BHASHINI Division. The milestone findings were compiled into the ‘Sovereign AI Cloud Transformation Report’, launched during the event.

The report draws insights from BHASHINI’s large-scale real-world deployment at Maha Kumbh 2025, the world’s largest religious gathering. Supported by Yotta’s NVIDIA H100-powered Shakti Cloud, BHASHINI delivered real-time multilingual translation and voice-based assistance across 11+ Indian languages, introducing the AI-powered digital assistant — “Kumbh Sah’AI’yak.”

This historic deployment illustrates how India’s digital public goods (DPGs) can successfully transition from global hyperscaler platforms to indigenous AI cloud infrastructure. The migration delivered up to 40% performance gains, 20–30% cost savings, and a sustained 99.99% uptime, with zero data loss across 200+ TiB of data and 3.5 billion files.

Through this innovation, Yotta demonstrates how sovereign AI infrastructure can drive national-level digital growth, ensuring that mission-critical services remain resilient, cost-efficient, and fully owned by India.

Executed over an intensive two-to-three-month migration, BHASHINI’s entire AI technology stack has been successfully transitioned to Yotta’s sovereign cloud infrastructure, marking a new era in India’s digital self-reliance. The move encompassed a complete migration of multilingual datasets, AI models, APIs, orchestration pipelines, containerized services, databases, and storage systems, ensuring secure and scalable performance across the entire ecosystem.

The newly deployed architecture is built on open-source and cloud-agnostic technologies, eliminating dependency on global platforms and reinforcing India’s long-term goals of vendor neutrality and strategic technological autonomy. This shift aligns closely with the IndiaAI Mission’s vision to establish a self-sufficient digital framework that fosters innovation and national data sovereignty.

Designed as a modular and reusable reference architecture, the BHASHINI framework offers a ready-to-deploy blueprint for other government ministries, public sector undertakings (PSUs), and national digital programs. It serves as a model for hyperscaler-to-Indian-cloud transitions, providing a tested roadmap for migrating mission-critical workloads with performance, security, and sustainability in mind.

This migration underscores India’s commitment to building a secure, sovereign, and inclusive AI ecosystem, one that drives economic growth, digital inclusion, and technological leadership while ensuring complete control over national data and infrastructure.

Leadership Comments

Commenting on the development, Shri Abhishek Singh, IAS, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology; CEO, IndiaAI Mission; and Director General, National Informatics Centre, said, “The successful migration of Bhashini to indigenous cloud and GPU platforms demonstrates that India can build, scale, and secure its sovereign AI systems for the public good. It underscores the IndiaAI Mission’s vision of developing sovereign compute capacity, models and deploying AI applications that are responsive to India’s unique requirements, including the delivery of reliable, real-time, voice-based services at population scale.”

Highlighting the platform impact, Shri Amitabh Nag, CEO, Digital India BHASHINI Division, said, “The move to Yotta’s sovereign AI cloud gives BHASHINI greater control, resilience, and scalability as it continues to serve India’s linguistic diversity. This transformation strengthens our ability to deliver inclusive, real-time multilingual services and marks a major step forward for Digital Public Infrastructure in AI. It will also serve as a blueprint for future deployments as we transition to a fully sovereign stack.”

Ms. Kavita Bhatia, COO, IndiaAI Mission, said, “BHASHINI’s transition to a fully sovereign AI cloud is a significant milestone in IndiaAI Mission’s effort to build population-scale AI on Indian infrastructure. It demonstrates that national digital public goods can be securely scaled on indigenous, open platforms without compromising performance. This deployment sets a strong blueprint for future public sector AI initiatives.”
